HISTORY OF THE VIDYALAYA

Soundararaja Vidyalaya was founded in June 1988 through the munificence of Soundararaja charities Trust, Dindigul. The Vidyalaya is situated on a sprawling campus of over 29acres, 5km away from Dindigul town, suited to a peaceful learning environment.

It has classes from PreKG to class XII and is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi for Secondary and Senior Secondary Courses.

The Vidyalaya aims at imparting comprehensive education conducive to an all-round development of the personality of the child worthy of esteem by self and society. It encourages desirable attitudes so that they become good citizens with healthy social, secular, moral and democratic values to further consolidate our composite culture.

It provides effective and interesting learning experience by adopting modern educational technology. Play way method of learning in its real sense, is the experience given to tiny tots. Multisensory learning and differentiated individualised programmes take care in particular, of varied aptitudes, styles of learning and levels of learning ability in every child.

Vidyalaya leaves no stone unturned to cater to the needs of both advanced and slow learners. Adopting varied teaching methods, Vidyalaya ensures an inclusive academic atmosphere.

Co-curricular and Extracurricular activities followed pave way for holistic development of the child. It also promotes the critical and reflective skills among them. This moulds them into refined personalities.

A flexible curriculum periodically reviewed and updated by the management has been developed keeping in mind, current trends in education and the development level of children at each age group.

Vidyalaya nurtures inclusiveness and encourages close interaction among students belonging to diverse social and economic backgrounds. Day boarding system in effect since inception serves as a platform for teachers and students to sit together eat and exchange ideas and understand each other well.

Sports and games form an important part of student’s life. This has been included in the school routine to promote good health, self-confidence and team spirit besides imparting skill in them in various sports activities.

Inter-House competitions are an integral part of the Co-curricular activities and are held throughout the year to promote House spirit and sportsmanship apart from rendering great stature and responsibility.

Trekking, Cycle Expedition, Open House Competitions, Camp Fire, Skill exhibition etc are some of the most popular Extra Curricular activities of the school.

There are seven buses to take care of the transport needs of children and staff in a very comfortable way.
